Quite a Saturday 3

I had quite a day yesterday. I got up and went and volunteered at Embrace Richmond in the morning. I’m going to do a profile of them at some point so I won’t explain too much about it. But a group of us guys from The Well built shelves and did a few other things. Good manual labor that wore me out.

Casey and Alisha

I came some from there and showered, tried to make myself look handsome, put on my suit(!) and went with my stunningly beautiful wife over to St. Patrick’s Church for our good friends Casey and Alisha’s wedding. The wedding was beautiful, the wedding music was great and the happy couple looked extremely happy as they coupled. The funny part for us spectators was that it was a catholic wedding and there are apparently certain things that happen that catholics know about. I’d say 95% of Casey’s side of the church was catholic and maybe 1% of Alisha’s side was. Whenever you were supposed to respond or do stuff only the right half of the church had a clue what to do. Those of us on the left just looked like lost puppies. Pretty entertaining. The reception was a blast as they have crazy friends and family and lots alcohol was consumed. Highlights include dancing to polka music(they are the Krukowskis from Pittsburgh after all), the 11 year old flower girl dancing with lots of sass and lots of general merriment.

As good friends we had a few tasks for the wedding. The first was Friday night when we did a bunch of stuff to make the rehearsal dinner go off well(and it did). Yesterday our tasks included getting certain things from the church to the reception, Alica was then the liaison from the DJ to the bridal party, and then we brought a ton of stuff back to their house after the wedding. We were thrilled to be able to do anything we could to make their day as special as possible. We love you Krukowskis! Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding!

Mixed emotions week 4

Posted by Daniel on September 12, 2007

This has been quite a week so far. Hard to believe it’s only halfway done. Monday was the anniversary of my brother Jack‘s death. Hard to believe it’s been 4 years. Tuesday was of course 9/11. Plus there is the family crap that Alicia mentioned briefly. Sounds like it would be all bad.

But it’s not. There is good stuff too. Our good friends Brent and Keila are at MCV having their baby today! Tessa will enter the world sometime today, although from what I’m hearing it’s going slow. They have been updating Facebook periodically throughout the day so it’s been neat to be able to follow. On Saturday our good friends Casey and Alisha are getting married! Should be a really fun wedding. It will be at St Patrick’s Catholic Church with the reception at Plant Zero. The other good news will be announced by Alicia on her blog when she gets home, so stay tuned for that.

Quite an up and down week.

Babysat this morning 4

Watching TV with Avery

We babysat Brent and Keila’s daughter Avery for about an hour this morning. The photo above is when we were watching Strawberry Shortcake. She also was very interested in our cats, but they all wanted to keep their distance from her. She is such a cutie and a lot of fun.

Weekend of friends

This was a great weekend of hanging out with friends, eating good food and drinking a good bit of wine. It started Friday night at Brent and Keila’s house. They had invited David, Chad, Alyssa, Scott, Jan and us over. It was a fun night of hanging out with good friends(plus the the bonus of Keila’s amazing southwestern lasagna). Saturday we went over to Alisha and Casey’s place to cookout and sample wine with them. They are getting married in two weeks! How exciting! Sunday was church and a cookout afterwards. I love our church. Monday was a hike and picnic lunch on Belle Isle with Chad, Alyssa and Wallace(their puppy) and then Ryan and Aoife coming over for a late dinner. We stretched the weekend out too as Ryan and Aoife didn’t leave our place until almost 3am. Crazy amounts of fun had all weekend long!
